Message from the President

Greetings from the President

Creating the future of Japan, and encouraging insatiable curiosity

The Kondo Scholarship Foundation was established by the founder of Toyo Tanso Co., Ltd., the late Teruhisa Kondo, who found it extremely regrettable that some students with excellent academic achievements and good character have to abandon their education with their ambitions unachieved due to economic or other reasons. The Foundation started by providing benefits to students in the founder’s birthplace of Kagawa Prefecture.
It is immensely encouraging to know that the scholarship students the Foundation has nurtured so far are now making a positive difference in various fields as active members of society.
The Foundation will continue to work hard to enrich the support we provide to students.

In 2014, the Foundation also started providing research grants for carbon, which the joint founder Toyo Tanso Co., Ltd. called a “captivating material with hidden infinite possibilities.” We also encourage young researchers that are doing original and creative research.

The Foundation will continue to contribute to the development of human resources that can make a positive difference in society, and to the development of science and technology.

President Naotaka Kondo

* In June 2016, the Foundation changed its name to Public Interest Incorporated Foundation (PIIF) Kondo Memorial Foundation.
