1994 (Heisei 6) | The Kondo Scholarship Foundation is established in Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture, following a donation by Teruhisa Kondo. The Foundation is approved as an incorporated foundation, with the Kagawa Prefectural Board of Education as the government agency in charge. The same year, the first scholarship students are selected from industrial high schools, KOSEN colleges, and universities in Kagawa Prefecture. |
2004 (Heisei 16) | The Foundation starts to accept students from general courses. |
2010 (Heisei 22) | The Foundation expands the project area coverage, and starts to accept scholarship students from universities and graduate schools in the Keihanshin (Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe) area as well. |
2013 (Heisei 25) | The Foundation’s Board of Directors and Trustees decide to add research grants as a project and expand the project area coverage to all of Japan, upon receiving certification as a Public Interest Incorporated Foundation (PIIF). |
2013 (Heisei 25) | The Foundation receives certification from the Cabinet Office to transition to a Public Interest Incorporated Foundation (PIIF). |
2014 (Heisei 26) | The Foundation transitions to and registers as the Public Interest Incorporated Foundation (PIIF) Kondo Scholarship Foundation. |
2014 (Heisei 26) | The Foundation starts its research grant project. |
2016 (Heisei 28) | The Foundation changes its name to the Public Interest Incorporated Foundation (PIIF) Kondo Memorial Foundation. |
2018 (Heisei 30) | The Foundation launches a system to support students in advancing to higher education (admission to universities and colleges, etc.). |
2023 (Reiwa 5) | The Foundation starts the Kondo Memorial Foundation Award (monetary reward system for recognizing research achievements). |
2023 (Reiwa 5) | The Foundation expands the designated schools for scholarship grants to the Kanto area. |
